November, 2025 — DePaul President and CEO Renee Brown was recently presented with the Established Advocate Amplify Award from Voices for Virginia’s Children for her work and leadership within the child welfare system.
“Every year, Voices for Virginia’s Children shines a spotlight on the advocates, leaders, and organizations making extraordinary contributions to the well-being of young people across the commonwealth. The Amplify Awards celebrate those who amplify the voices of children and families—whether through community care, courageous leadership, or bold policy change.”
“I am honored to accept this award on behalf of the dedicated work at DePaul,” said Renee. “This recognition reflects the power of our collective commitment to the children and families of Virginia. Every day, we face complex challenges together, and it is through compassion and perseverance that we make a difference. Above all, we remain steadfast in our responsibility to elevate the voices of those we serve. Looking ahead, we are inspired to build a future where every child feels hope, a sense of belonging, and is given the opportunity to thrive. This award strengthens our resolve to innovate, collaborate, and lead boldly in the ongoing work of transforming child welfare.”
“Renee Brown’s leadership embodies what it means to be an advocate with both heart and vision,” said Rachael Deane, CEO of Voices for Virginia’s Children. “Through her decades of service at DePaul Community Resources, Renee has reimagined how Virginia supports children and families—building systems rooted in compassion, belonging, and hope. We are honored to recognize her as this year’s Established Advocate for her unwavering commitment to ensuring that every young person has the opportunity to thrive.”
Before becoming President and CEO of DePaul, Renee served as the Vice President of Child and Family Services, overseeing the Foster Care, Independent Living, Adoption, and Community-Based programs. In November of 2022, Renee was promoted to her current role, where she continues to champion DePaul’s mission with a focus on strengthening partnerships, enhancing program quality, and driving sustainable growth. Under her leadership, the organization has remained committed to opening doors to hope and belonging in support of individuals, families, and communities.
Renee values community partnerships and is a member of the Roanoke City and Roanoke County Community Policy and Management Teams (CPMT). Renee is also on the Family Focused Treatment Association Board, a national organization that provides support to agencies in the child welfare system, as well as the Project Discovery Board, a program that provides support to first generation college-bound students across Virginia.
