Kinship Care

To help young people in foster care maintain connections with their birth families, DePaul offers Kinship Care—a service that finds foster placements within a young person’s extended family.

Kinship Care is designed to meet the needs of young people who would benefit from placement with a relative or fictive kin (someone with a close relationship to the young person and/or birth family, though unrelated by blood or marriage). After a home study is completed and the young person is placed, supervision and support is provided to families by our foster care staff. DePaul also offers kinship care search, a service which facilitates the search for an appropriate relative or fictive kin.
